Bridal Cosmetic Surgery Trends
The month of June is fast approaching. This means that the sound of wedding bells is not far behind. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, more than 2 million Americans said “I do” just in 2014. Furthermore, the global wedding industry market is estimated to be $300 billion, $55 billion of which is within just the United States. Needless to say, couples may invest a great deal of time and money in preparation for that big day.
Given these statistics, it should not be surprising that pre-wedding cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures are on the rise, particularly among brides-to-be. In fact, this trend has been dubbed bridal-plasty. Whether it is liposuction in order to fit into that perfect wedding dress or dermal fillers to make the face look radiant on the big day, our staff at Jefferson Plastic Surgery has certainly seen this trend among prospective patients. Here are some of the more common non-surgical and surgical cosmetic procedures that brides-to-be elect to undergo.
Non-surgical Procedures
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections: BOTOX® injections relax facial muscles, thus smoothing out the skin, making the face look younger. Popular areas that are targeted for BOTOX® injections include the forehead, between the eyebrows, and along the neck. This procedure works well to remove furrows in the brow and forehead areas.
Dermal fillers: Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers are also injected into the skin to smooth out its appearance. The main difference between the two, however, is that dermal fillers can be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines, scars, and pitting. Dermal fillers do this by adding volume to the skin, which is lost over time due to aging. Collagen fills out the skin over the skeletal framework.
Chemical peels: Chemical peels remove the outermost layer of facial skin (epidermis), which often looks dull and lifeless due to dead skin cells. Once this has been stripped away, you are left with a younger, more radiant looking face that is free from blemishes and age spots.
Surgical Procedures
Rhinoplasty (nose job): Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular surgical procedures that brides-to-be opt to undergo to improve the appearance of their face. Such procedures can include either widening or narrowing the nose, lifting a droopy nasal tip, or addressing bumps on the bridge. Many rhinoplasty procedures can be performed either with only a few incisions hidden on the underside of the nose or without any incisions at all, so brides need not worry about excessive scarring.
Facelift: Collagen loss due to aging can also cause overall skin sagging, particularly around the cheeks, neck, and jawline. A facelift procedure can correct this. There are a variety of facelift procedures that can be done, ranging from those that lift the entire face to those that just lift around the jaw and neck areas. Such techniques can make the face look more youthful without appearing overly stretched.
Every bride deserves to look her best on her wedding day. Let our surgeons here at Jefferson Plastic Surgery help you do so on your special day.
