Breast Augmentation Costs

Breast augmentation has consistently been the most often performed cosmetic surgical procedure for a number of years. With advancements in surgical techniques, as well as implant materials, breast augmentation has become more and more popular with each passing year. Many women who are considering this procedure have already done their homework by looking at the website for Jefferson Plastic Surgery before coming in for an initial consultation with our staff.

When prospective patients do come in for an initial consultation visit, they may have questions about the cost of a breast augmentation procedure. Chief among these is why the staff does not list the cost for its various procedures on its website. In fact, the staff at Jefferson Plastic Surgery Center views its cost policy similarly to its patients: Each case is unique.

No Two Patients Are Alike

Breast augmentation patients can vary in many ways, including surgical approach, implant material, implant size, implant placement (in front or behind the pectoral muscles), and profile (the ratio of the implant’s height to its width). The reason for all of these variations can range from the width of the chest, to the amount of breast tissue needed to cover the implants, to whether or not the patient intends to breastfeed any infants in the future. All of these variables must be factored into the cost.

Will My Insurance Cover the Cost?

In most cases, medical insurance will not cover the cost of cosmetic surgical procedures, including breast augmentation. However, if the augmentation is done as part of a reconstruction process following loss of a breast to cancer, it may be covered. Our staff recommends that prospective patients check with their insurance company to see if it will cover the cost. Please let the staff know if you need any assistance in gathering or filling out paperwork in order to file a claim with your medical insurance company.

Jefferson Plastic Surgery does accept a wide variety of insurance plans, including:

  • Medicare
  • Personal Choice
  • Keystone Health Plan East
  • Amerihealth
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • United Healthcare
  • Coventry
  • Great West
  • Devon
  • Tricare
  • Coresource
  • PHCS
  • Multiplan

What Does the Cost Cover?

Jefferson Plastic Surgery prides itself on giving patients individualized care. This is reflected in the staff’s belief that the cost of a procedure should also take each individual patient’s goals and needs into account. This is why patients are quoted a range, rather than a set price.

Regardless of the quoted price range, the final cost for a breast augmentation procedure will always cover the surgeon’s, anesthesiologist’s, and surgical center’s fees. In the rare event that a patient may need to stay in the hospital overnight, those fees are also taken into account.

Are There Other Options to Cover the Cost of Surgery?

For those patients who cannot have their breast augmentation covered by medical insurance, there are still a variety of ways to pay for the surgery. Ask our staff about these when you come in for the first consultation visit. We will be more than happy to assist you in finding a payment option that best suits your needs.

Prospective patients who decide to undergo a breast augmentation procedure will have so much to look forward to once they have finished healing. Our staff believes that the cost of the procedure should not stand in the way of that.
