New Year, New You: Why January Is a Great Month for Cosmetic Surgery
We often think of the New Year as a time for renewal and setting resolutions for the coming year. If you have been thinking about improving your appearance, you may have set yourself a resolution to do just that. In fact, our staff at Jefferson Plastic Surgery specifically recommends that patients consider undergoing any major cosmetic surgical procedures, such as breast augmentations or tummy tucks, during the month of January. What makes January, in particular, the best month of the year to undergo your cosmetic surgery?
Keeping it Under Wraps
January is usually one of the coldest months of the year. Particularly if you live in a cold weather climate, you will likely be bundled up in layers of clothing, including an undershirt, sweater, and a jacket or coat. All that clothing can do more than just keep you warm as the temperatures dip, however. They can also help you keep under wraps while you are still healing from your surgery. Once you are satisfied with the final results from your surgery, you can show off to your friends and family just in time for the warmer weather of spring.
Give Yourself a Stay-cation
It seems like the fall season is a nonstop whirlwind of social activity once Halloween hits. There are parties and family gatherings almost every weekend. Fortunately, once the last bottle of champagne has been popped for New Year’s, everything seems to quiet down. This makes January a great time to give yourself a stay-cation indoors at home while you rest and recover from your cosmetic surgery.
Another advantage to staying at home is that you can keep out of the elements, particularly direct sunlight, which is recommended if you have undergone a facial procedure, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. Staying out of the elements will reduce the appearance of any scars following your procedure.
Give Yourself a Tax Treat
Many people who are expecting a refund on their taxes want to file as early in the year as possible, so that they see their refund sooner. If this is the case for you, it makes sense to go ahead and use part or all of that refund to treat yourself to the cosmetic surgery you have been wanting. Think of it as your reward for all the hours of work that you put in to itemize all your receipts in order to get your refund in the first place.
Be Resolute!
There is not much that feels better than to cross off a New Year’s resolution as something you have achieved. Deciding to have your cosmetic surgery during the month of January guarantees that you can get at least one of your resolutions out of the way within 30 days of the start of the new year. This can give you just the boost of confidence you need to tackle the rest of the resolutions on your list.
